Dedicated to the memory of Isaiah Pender

Welcome to our page set up in loving memory of our little prince, Isaiah Pender, who was born sleeping 3/3/21. He is much loved and will always be remembered

In October 2020, Emma, Isaiah’s mummy contracted severe covid and as a result was on a life support machine in intensive care for a month. Emma remained in hosptial till January 2021.

Isaiah was only 20 weeks along at this time, and ultimately this is what led to the devastating outcome for the Pender family.

Isaiah stayed with his mummy all the way through her illness and protected her and made sure she was never alone.

Isaiah was the most incredible little boy.
He defied many odds, and amazed the doctors that he battled on to full term.

On 3rd March 2021, although he was born sleeping, Kevin and Emma got to meet their very precious and perfect little boy.

He brought us enduring love, joy, pride, and made us burst with happiness.

The staff at Wythenshawe hospital where just amazing.

They had been looking after Emma, since 20 weeks into the pregnancy, when she was admitted into Wythenshawe.

They came to scan her every week that she was in hospital, for a total of 3 months.

So you can imagine by the time Isaiah came to be born, so many people were invested in our story.

A little from Emma and Kevin...

When he was born we had the best care you could ever wish for. The room was so peaceful and calm. It was the perfect birth. So serene, and even had one of the consultants in floods of tears when Isaiah came along!

What neither of us had anticipated was what was to come next...

We got to spend a week with our son.

This is the main reason for setting up this page and our fundraising goal.

The Snowdrop Suite @ Wythenshawe hospital.

We were taken to the suite the day after Isaiah was born.
It is a room within the maternity ward for families like us, almost a home from home. It felt more like a hotel room than a hospital room.

It was here that we got to make our most treasured memories with our son.

They have special cuddle cold cots that keep baby cool so that he could stay with us for longer. He got to sleep along side his mum and dad each night.

We got to spend time with him, we read bedtime stories to him, sang to him, changed him, cuddled him, told him all about his family, and just got to spend real quality time together as a family of three.

The midwives and healthcare assistants that looked after us were outstanding and treated our little boy just like any other baby. The love, care, dignity and respect shown was second to none.

We were also given so many wonderful items to keep. They had casts made of Isaiah’s hands and feet, they made clay prints, ink prints, gave us all of his blankets, they arranged a photographer to come and take beautiful pictures of him, they arranged a naming blessing service for him. They went above and beyond to make such a heart breaking time as happy as it could be.

Wythenshawe are now looking to open a second suite within the maternity department.

Sadly, there is a real need for this.

This is why we are raising money. We want to be able to give back, to help other families who go through the heartbreak that we have gone through. To give families the chance to make their own memories and receive the best care there is to offfer.

I wouldnt wish what has happened to us on anyone. It is the most heartbreaking and life changing thing to happen.

You have your baby, but you have to leave them behind. All of your ‘future memories’ are left behind. You dont get to see your baby grow up, see them smile, hear what they would sound like, watch them reach their dreams. You have so much love to give and nowhere for it to go.

We are putting our love into the memory of our son, giving him ‘life’ in this world and making him proud. If we can help others in situations similar to ours along the way, even better.

If you could help us in any small way we will be eternally grateful.

Thank you

Emma and Kevin and Isaiah xxx
